Jenifer’s Home Page

Left: Dr. Rene McNall, Pediatric Oncologist from OU Physicians plans Jenifer’s over-all care at this point.  She’s so sweet and wonderful.   We all love her very much. Jenifer sees Dr. McNall about every 2 wks and for checkups while she is taking her chemotherapy.   Dr. Rene goes to Northern Nicaragua (Jinotega) on mission trips.

Right:  Dr. Gross is the pediatric neurosurgeon that performed surgery on Jenifer on Dec 4th, 2007.  Using an operating microscopy, she biopsied and removed about half of the glioma in Jenifer’s brainstem.  Her symptoms have improved dramatically since surgery. 

Right:  Dr. Syzek, radiation Oncologist at OU sees Jenifer about every 2 weeks.  Her crew of radiation therapists have made the entire experience unbelievable.  They are not afraid to have fun and tease along the way.   She and Jenifer make funny faces below.

Left: Jenifer’s best friends.  Every day, Monday through Friday, Jenifer goes to Oklahoma City to the OU Radiation Therapy Center.  At her appointed time, 1:15 PM she receives the prescribed dose of radiation to further shrink the tumor.  She has had minimal effects and the treatments have been much easier than we expected.

At Christmas, Jenifer received a Cabbage Patch Doll from Dale and Gail Goad.  She insisted the doll received a radiation treatment.  Its only fair.  In the middle photo, the doll is wearing the white striped positioning mask to make sure she holds still.  The treatments take less than 11 minutes.  We are so thankful for the friends at radiation therapy. On each visit, Jenifer gets a toy.  They have made all of this so much better with such a loving and compassionate attitude toward Jenifer.  Most of the patients are older and many of the look forward to seeing Jenifer’s smiles on their visits.
