The Children of the King
...from the street to the Kingdom.
Gail and her husband Dale Goad are Christian volunteers from Durant OK. With over 20 yrs of foreign mission work to countries like Cuba, Mexico, Honduras and of course Nicaragua, they have dedicated their lives to taking care of God’s children. Now in semi-retirement, they spend 3 months at a time working with the Garcia’s in Jinotepe.
We have 3 new children that arrived Monday. They are Yazmina, age 11, Emily, age 8 and Fernanda, age 6. The other new girl named Clarbel is adjusting well to her new home. They all seem very happy to be here.
Love to all, Gail

Dale is reading Treasure Island (in Spanish) to the children , one chapter at a time. They love it.
There is a young lady from Canada that is volunteering here for a month or two. She has worked at several children's homes in Nicaragua. Friday she wanted us to visit the last one that she worked at. It is for special needs children in Managua. We are so blessed to have this facility. You realize how good it is here when you visit another children’s home. Love to all, Gail.

To all,
I am sending pictures of corn harvest, Independence Day school program, Saturday-boys yard work, Érick’s Young Men’s class.
It is time for corn harvest in Nicaragua. Street venders are selling roasted corn on the cob, corn bread that looks like ours in Oklahoma and a corn pancake. Here, at LNDR we have a good corn crop. The children help chuck and grind the corn that is then used to make to wonderful corn pancake called guirila. The workers actually pick a banana leaf off the tree to cook it until it has a form, then moves it to the open grill.
In September you can find Nicaraguan blue and white flags for sale at every semafaro, ( red light) in Managua because of the celebration of Independence. There are many long parades on September 15th, the actual Independence Day. Our children had a special program at the school near LNDR. The Act of Independence is read in every school to promote patriotism. They started the program with a public prayer. Maybe we can learn something from the people here in Nicaragua.
Saturdays at LNDR are busy with yard work and flying kites. They will study if ¨Tia¨ insists. All the workers are called Aunt. They have a big lunch which is followed by a nap for everyone. At 2 pm, they are up and out to the playground. If life could always be so simple.
The preaching school is continuing to meet on Saturdays. Erick is working with the young men from Rosario before the preaching school starts. I can hear them singing and preaching as I clean teeth in the clinic before anyone else has arrived. The little boys waiting to have their teeth cleaned start to sing along with them. The children are so precious and God is so good!!
The Garcias were in Honduras, Sept 20-23 with a youth seminar at Baxter Institute. This is a work that he has continued to do for several years. Erick is also teaching leadership seminars September 26-Diriamba, September 30-Masaya. Eveling continues to have some nausea from her pregnancy but is doing well.
Dale and I are teaching on Monday and Wednesday nights. First, we teach Bible class with coloring sheets to the younger one in the boys home. Then, we move to the girl’s home for class with the older children. We teach a bible lesson then follow with an English lesson.
I hope to get this off today. God bless. Gail
We have a new niña called Clarabel. She was in a bad situation in Managua, Family Ministry needed a place to keep her until relatives can receive her. They are recovering from the hurricane on the Atlantic coast.
Bud and Janelle Amlin from Mead church of Christ, came for a week to work here at LNDR. He is a carpenter by trade and built more closet shelves, repaired cabinet drawers, built a bench for the garden, etc. Their desire was to show Christ’s love to the children but they were so touched by the love they received from them.
Eveling and Erick are visiting the home of 3 young girls that are scheduled to come Monday to stay here. Their father abandoned them 7 years ago. The mother has no family help. It is a bad neighborhood and the mother works 12 hours shifts, a neighborhood teenager tried to assault the eleven year old while she was at work. They went to the police and Family Ministry and they wouldn’t do anything. If she stays home to protect the children, she cannot feed them. If she leaves them, the ¨wolves” are there to take them. A friend of hers helped her find our phone number in the phone book. She called asking for help. Eric brought the mother and girls here last week and to visit the home.
